Frequently Asked Questions
Aquatic sessions are held at the-state-of-the-art Keilor East Leisure Centre, 84 Quinn Grove, Keilor East. You will be asked to either meet your physiotherapist in the foyer or at the warm water exercise pool.
1.Where are aquatic sessions held?
2. What happens after I book my appointment?
You will receive a confirmation email, including three forms to complete. A Registration form, a medical screening form and a pool and safety information form. You must complete all three forms at least 24hours prior to your appointment.
Some medical conditions may require clearance from your GP; others can be managed once we are aware.
3.What should I bring?
You will need a swimsuit, towel and non-slip footwear as advised by your physiotherapist. You should also bring a water bottle to keep pool side for hydration and any medications you may need e.g. for asthma or angina.
If you have any referrals or imaging reports, you can either bring them to your session or email them to hello@kmcphysiotherapy.com.au
4.Do I need to be able to swim?
No, most exercises are performed in standing and consideration is taken regarding swimming ability and any fear of the water when designing a program.
5.How warm is the water?
The water is a very comfortable 34 degrees. This is the perfect temperature for aquatic physiotherapy and is considered thermoneutral.
6. Can I still enter the pool if I have an open wound?
You can still enter the pool with an open wound, but it must be covered with a waterproof dressing such as Opsite - available from your pharmacy. Waterproof dressings may be used for early mobilisation in the pool post-surgery and have been shown to be safe and effective when properly applied.
7.What is the cost?
Initial Assessment $95
Standard session $85
Group session $45
TAC/Worksafe/DVA Claims Bulk Billed
Medicare rebate applicable to Initial and Standard sessions - for those eligible with GP referral.

8.Do I have to pay to get into the pool?
Your entry cost is included in the fee. If your physiotherapist is already in the pool with another client, you will be required to pay the entry fee for ‘pool only’ and provide the receipt to your physio who will deduct it from your fee. Your physio will let you know if this is the case. Otherwise, your physio will meet you in the foyer and will cover your entry fee.
In some instances, you may wish to pay extra to access the spa, steam and sauna after your session. This portion will not be deducted from your physio fee.
9.What happens if I am sick or need to cancel?
If you are unwell then please cancel via your Cliniko booking confirmation email, call 0411 076 714 or email hello@kmcphysiotherapy.com.au as soon as possible to let us know. If you wish to reschedule or cancel your appointment, you must do so, at least 24hrs prior to your appointment to let us know. Failure to cancel your appointment prior to 24hrs, will incur a cancellation fee of $50. If you have gastroenteritis/diarrhoea you should wait 2 weeks from when your symptoms stop before returning to the pool. Also, if your medical status changes during the course of your rehabilitation you must inform your physiotherapist to ensure you remain safe in the water.
